GAME CHANGERS: TACKLING HARMFUL PRACTICES IN NIGERIA THROUGH EDUCATIONAL GAMES FOR GIRLS.
In 2024, FEHD Foundation developed an innovative app, GAME CHANGER: SRHR TRIVIA, which features two interactive games: a board game and a card game. These games include questions on critical and sensitive topics such as female genital mutilation (FGM), menstrual hygiene, child/Early marriage, and other SRHR-related issues. The app was successfully launched on the Google Play Store, making it accessible to students across different continents.

 

The C’EST la VIE (CLV)

Project has been central to our mission of advancing sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) while challenging cultural norms that perpetuate harmful practices. In 2024, we extended our outreach to new communities and mobilized local actors to join the cause.

Through partnerships with traditional leaders, activists, journalists, and local influencers, we organized workshops that fostered dialogue around topics like menstruation, SRHR, and gender equality. The project engaged over 500 women and adolescents across various communities, equipping them with knowledge and practical tools to advocate for their rights.

The findings revealed that FGM prevalence remains high in southern Nigeria, while gender-based violence continues to be a significant issue in the norther and central regions. This data guides our future interventions as we prioritize regions with the highest need.

MENSTRUAL FLOW AREN’T THE PROBLEM, ITS THE BARRIERS, SHAME AND SILENCE THAT NEED TO BE BROKEN

Marking Menstrual Hygiene day , we created a powerful gathering where young girls and women shared their experiences, and broke down barriers around menstruation. We also distributed free menstrual products, emphasizing that period dignity is a fundamental human right.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2024

On October 11, 2024, we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child under the theme “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Future.” In collaboration with local schools, we conducted leadership workshops for 50 young girls across three rural communities. The girls engaged in leadership exercises and discussions about the challenges they face, including access to education and early marriage.

CHILD AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

In 2024, we launched a comprehensive Child Awareness Campaign to educate children about their rights.

Through fun and interactive learning activities, we reached over 300 children across three local schools, educating them on personal safety, the importance of education, and reporting abuse.

HIV/AIDS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2024.

Our HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign reached more than 2,000 people across three local government areas in Imo State. Alongside sensitization workshops that emphasized prevention and early detection, we provided free HIV testing services, ensuring that individuals could learn their status. The campaign saw an increased demand for testing, showing the growing awareness and importance of early HIV diagnosis.
